VB Suspension FAQ's

Read more about VB Air Suspension

VB-FullAir completely replaces your motorhome's original steel suspension with a full air suspension system, allowing the vehicle to ride entirely on air. In contrast, VB-SemiAir works alongside the existing steel suspension by adding air springs to provide extra support. While VB-SemiAir improves ride comfort, stability and load support, VB-FullAir delivers the highest level of comfort, automatic ride height adjustment, enhanced handling and advanced features such as automatic levelling.

VB-FullAir automatically maintains the correct ride height while driving, adjusting the suspension as conditions change to deliver optimum comfort, stability and handling. With the optional AutoLevel system, your motorhome can also be levelled at the touch of a button when parked, making it ideal for campsites and overnight stays.

VB-FullAir includes selectable drive modes to help you tackle different conditions with confidence. Ferry Mode adjusts the suspension to improve the vehicle's approach and departure angles when boarding ferries, navigating ramps or accessing steep driveways. Off-Road Mode temporarily raises the vehicle by approximately 30mm (speed restricted) to provide additional ground clearance on uneven or rough terrain.

Yes. VB-FullAir improves driving stability by maintaining the correct ride height and helping to distribute weight more evenly across the axles. This reduces body roll, enhances braking stability, improves resistance to crosswinds, and delivers a smoother, more controlled driving experience.

Absolutely. VB-FullAir is especially well suited to frequent, long-distance, or extended touring, providing maximum comfort, stability and adaptability across a wide range of driving conditions.

The VB-Essentials Pack provides improved ride comfort and load support, while the VB-Comfort & Handling Pack adds VB-Active adaptive shock absorbers for a more advanced level of performance. These adaptive dampers continuously adjust to changing road conditions in real time, delivering smoother ride quality, reduced vibration, and enhanced stability—particularly on uneven roads and during long-distance touring.

Many motorhomes are built on commercial van chassis that weren't originally designed to carry the additional weight of a completed camper conversion. As a result, suspension can settle over time, leading to reduced ride height, increased body roll, and a less comfortable driving experience.

The VB-Essentials Pack helps restore the correct ride height, improves vehicle stability, reduces rear-end sag, and delivers a smoother, more controlled drive. It's an excellent upgrade for motorhome owners looking to improve comfort and handling without moving to a full air suspension system.

Absolutely. The VB-Essentials Pack is designed with touring motorhomes in mind, making it ideal for regular UK and European travel. Whether you're carrying bikes, awnings, or travelling fully loaded, the upgraded suspension provides improved comfort and confidence on long journeys.

If you're looking for even greater ride refinement and advanced damping technology, Abacus Motorhomes can also advise on upgrading to the VB Comfort & Handling Pack.

Yes. By helping to maintain the correct ride height and improving weight distribution, the VB-Essentials Pack can reduce body movement caused by crosswinds and uneven road surfaces.

Many motorhome owners notice improved steering feel, better cornering stability, and increased driver confidence, particularly on motorways and exposed roads.

In many cases, yes. If your needs change over time, your suspension system may be upgraded to include additional VB components, depending on your motorhome's chassis and specification.

Our team at Abacus Motorhomes can advise on the best upgrade path and whether your vehicle is compatible with further enhancements.

VB suspension systems are developed to work alongside major motorhome and chassis manufacturers' specifications. When professionally supplied and fitted, they are designed to integrate with your vehicle without compromising its intended performance.

At Abacus Motorhomes, we'll explain how the installation relates to your specific vehicle and provide guidance regarding manufacturer warranty considerations before any work is carried out.

If your motorhome has started to sit lower at the rear or feels less stable than when it was new, the VB-Essentials Pack can significantly improve ride quality and handling. It's a popular upgrade for older motorhomes carrying heavier touring equipment.

Most VB-Essentials Pack installations can be completed within a single working day, although the exact fitting time depends on your motorhome's make, model and suspension configuration.

In many cases, yes. Depending on your motorhome and chassis specification, it's often possible to increase your vehicle's Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) through an approved uprating, either alongside the VB-Essentials Pack or as part of a wider suspension upgrade.

An uprated motorhome can provide additional legal payload capacity, making it easier to carry passengers, bikes, accessories and touring equipment with confidence. At Abacus Motorhomes, we'll assess your vehicle and advise whether a weight uprate is available and which suspension solution best suits your requirements.

The VB Comfort & Handling Pack includes all the benefits of the VB-Essentials Pack, with the addition of intelligent VB-Active adaptive dampers. These automatically respond to changing road conditions, delivering a smoother ride, improved stability and greater driving confidence.

It's an ideal upgrade for motorhome owners who spend long periods on the road and want the highest levels of comfort and handling.

Yes. The VB Comfort & Handling Pack is designed to improve motorhome stability by combining advanced adaptive damping with enhanced suspension support. As the system continuously adjusts to changing road conditions, it helps reduce body roll, minimise the effects of crosswinds and improve steering control.

Many motorhome owners notice a more stable and confident driving experience when travelling on motorways, crossing exposed bridges or overtaking larger vehicles. The result is improved comfort, better handling and reduced driver fatigue on longer journeys.

No. The VB Comfort & Handling Pack is designed to enhance your existing motorhome suspension rather than replace it completely. By working alongside the original suspension components, it improves ride quality, stability and overall vehicle control.

The VB Comfort & Handling Pack includes the VB SemiAir Digital control system, allowing the ride height to be adjusted within its designed operating range to suit different loading conditions.

The adaptive damping technology works automatically while driving, continuously monitoring road conditions and adjusting suspension performance without requiring any driver input.

Yes. The VB Comfort & Handling Pack is particularly beneficial for motorhomes carrying additional weight such as bikes, e-bikes, scooters, full water tanks and touring equipment.

By improving suspension support and vehicle balance, the system helps maintain ride comfort, handling and stability even when travelling with a heavier payload.

In many cases, yes. The VB Comfort & Handling Pack can often be installed alongside an approved motorhome Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) uprate, depending on your vehicle's chassis and specification.

A weight uprate can increase your available legal payload, allowing you to carry more passengers, luggage and touring equipment safely.
